Breaking News: George Gray and Brittney Green Head to Split
Let’s talk about something that might surprise you: George Gray, the beloved announcer from The Price Is Right, has officially filed for divorce from his wife, Brittney Green. This news comes as a shock to many fans who have followed the couple's journey over the years. George, who is 57, cited “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for their split, with their official separation date marked as August 1, 2024, according to a TMZ report published on January 21.
It’s Not All Over Yet: Counseling on the Horizon
Now, here’s the twist: despite filing for divorce, George and Brittney aren’t giving up just yet. George told TMZ that the decision to part ways was mutual, but they’re both committed to attending couples counseling in an effort to salvage their relationship. In California, there’s a six-month window where couples can work on their marriage before the divorce becomes final. So, if things go well, they could still call off the split and get back to being a family.
A Quick Recap of Their Love Story
George and Brittney tied the knot in April 2019, marking the start of what seemed like a beautiful chapter in their lives. But life has a way of throwing curveballs. Just a year later, George faced a life-threatening health scare when he suffered not one, but three heart attacks in quick succession in April 2020. The couple’s bond was tested during this difficult time, and Brittney played a crucial role in saving George’s life.

George’s Health Scare: A Brush with Death
Let me paint you a clearer picture of what happened. George initially went to the hospital after experiencing chest pains. Doctors quickly performed surgery and placed a stent in his chest to help restore blood flow to his heart. But here’s the kicker: shortly after the stent was placed, it failed, leading to a second heart attack. George was put back under for another surgery to place a second stent. However, while recovering and taking a walk around the hospital, the second stent also failed, sending him back into the operating room. If that wasn’t enough, he suffered a massive third heart attack, known as “the widowmaker,” during the procedure. Fortunately, the medical team was able to act fast, and George survived.
George’s representative shared an update with Variety at the time, saying, “He is recovering well, considering his brush with death this week. I was able to speak to him for about 20 minutes this morning, and he is in good spirits after the scare of his life. He is currently resting and focusing on recovery.”

George later opened up about this harrowing experience in an interview with Entertainment Tonight. He described the heart attacks as “tons of bricks hitting me,” revealing that the right side of his heart was 100% blocked. Brittney, who was by his side throughout the ordeal, credited herself with saving George’s life by calling the paramedics. Thanks to her quick thinking, he was on the operating table within 40 minutes, a fact he credits with saving his life.
Words of Wisdom from George
George’s health scare wasn’t just a personal battle; it was also a wake-up call for others. During the interview, he stressed the importance of regular check-ups and stress tests, especially as we age. “Check out your ticker and make sure it’s where you need to be. Go see the doctor. It could save your life,” he advised. George underwent two stent placements and eventually a quadruple bypass surgery, but he came out stronger on the other side.
