Blue Bloods Series Finale: What To Expect And Who's Returning

As the curtain falls on Blue Bloods, fans are bracing themselves for an emotional finale. The cast has already hinted that the final episode will tug at heartstrings, leaving viewers both tearful and hopeful. It’s the end of an era, but it’s not just about saying goodbye—it’s about celebrating the legacy of the Reagan family and their journey through the ups and downs of life in the NYPD.

Get Ready for an Emotional Ride

Donnie Wahlberg, who plays Danny Reagan, teased a major moment in the show’s series finale that’s bound to leave fans emotional. “The audience will probably be happy,” he said in an appearance on Andy Cohen’s SiriusXM radio show in October 2024. “There’ll be a lot of tears. I think the same kind of tears we had, but there is a very sad scene that happens in the middle of the final episode, which will be very emotional.”

But don’t worry, it’s not all doom and gloom. Wahlberg reassured fans that the finale will feel like a hopeful send-off. “I think the audience is gonna be really happy because I think there are a lot of things—so to answer your question directly, I think it feels like a finale, but a hopeful, forward-thinking finale.”

    A Farewell at the Cemetery

Abigail Hawk, who plays Abigail Baker, shared an intriguing detail about her final day on set with Tom Selleck. “My last day, Tom’s last day, gosh, quite a few of our last days on set, was at a cemetery,” she told Express on October 12, 2024. This cryptic clue hints at a possible funeral scene, leaving fans to speculate which character might meet their end.

The cast wrapped filming the final scenes in June, and it was an emotional experience for everyone involved. “It was hard,” Hawk said. “And I felt like I was almost watching myself because it was so surreal and I was so in it that I couldn’t see it, if that makes sense?”

“It was almost like being so close to the fire that I can’t actually experience how hot it is,” she added.

As the series finale approaches, CBS has released photos of the funeral scene, offering fans a glimpse of who might be in attendance. Henry, Frank, Erin, Danny, Eddie, Maria, Jack, Peter, and Jamie are all present, suggesting their characters are safe. However, Luis Badillo is noticeably absent, raising questions about his fate.

Vanessa Ray teased a memorable scene with Badillo, hinting that his storyline might be coming to an end. “She’s got a really good one with Badillo. That’s probably one of my top five favorite scenes I’ve ever shot with him,” she told TV Insider in November 2024. “It was cool to shoot it because we had to shoot it about four different ways to figure out what was going to make it in the edit. So that was really fun. And then it’s a lot of family. It’s a lot of being with the family.”
