Gathering the Family for Christmas
Candace shared her excitement about her family’s plans for Christmas. “My kids are still very much near us. Even the one that’s the farthest, she’s gonna fly into town. And so we’re still all together,” she said. It’s clear that her family remains close-knit, with all three of her children, along with her son-in-law, set to be present for Christmas morning. When it comes to how her kids view the holidays now, Candace explains, “It’s a day for family and friends, but I think because they are older it’s less and less about the presents.” She continues, “As we all age, I think it becomes less about that and more about the conversation and the time spent together.” Isn’t that just the truth? The older we get, the more we value the connections we make during the holidays.
One of her favorite traditions? Waking up as a family to watch the sunrise. “Hence, even waking up to watch the sunrise together as a family … they’re beautiful things and they’re just more mature at this stage,” she says. “I love it.” Age really does give us perspective, doesn’t it?
Upcoming Movie Projects
Not only did Candace talk about her family’s holiday traditions, but she also gave us a sneak peek into her upcoming film projects. In A Christmas Less Traveled, she stars alongside Eric Johnson. The movie centers around a woman who loses her father and discovers an old audio cassette tape he left behind. “And he tells her about many of his regrets in life and the things that he wished he would’ve shared with her while he was still alive,” she explains. “She goes on this journey on a road trip along with his voice to discover all those things. And of course, in true Christmas fashion, she meets a handsome stranger along the way who joins her for that trip.” Sounds like a touching story, doesn’t it?
Another Heartwarming Tale
In Home Sweet Christmas, Candace stars alongside Cameron Mathison. She plays a lawyer who returns home after inheriting part of a maple forest from her uncle, where she reconnects with a childhood friend played by Cameron, 55. “I absolutely adore Cameron Mathison and I have wanted to do a movie together for so many years and we’ve been friends for a really long time. And we finally got put together,” she says about the film.
