There’s something truly magical about watching your kids grow up, and Drew Scott knows that firsthand. The charismatic Property Brothers star recently opened up about the joys and challenges of raising his two young children, Parker and Piper, with his wife, Linda Phan. It’s clear that fatherhood has brought a whole new level of meaning to his life.
Big Brother Vibes: Parker and Piper’s Special Bond
“Seeing Parker step into the role of big brother to Piper is pretty incredible,” Drew, 46, shared with People on Thursday, October 24. He went on to explain how the dynamic between the siblings has evolved over time. “At first, Parker was a little unsure about the whole situation. You know, kids can be like that. But now, they seem like the best of friends already. It’s really heartwarming to watch.”
Adjusting to Life as a Big Sibling
Piper, who is just five months old, arrived on May 21, 2024, and has already formed a sweet bond with her older brother, Parker, who is two years old. Of course, adjusting to being a big sibling isn’t always easy. “There are days when Parker seems to think, ‘Oh, I don’t know, can we return her?’” Linda, 39, joked. “That’s what he thinks in the moment, but deep down, they’re going to be the best of friends. It’s just a matter of time.”

“In the beginning, Parker was a little confused. He was probably thinking, ‘Who is this little person stealing my attention?’” Drew added with a laugh. “But now, he seems to absolutely adore her. And Piper? She’s already picking up so much just by watching him. Even though she’s only five months old, the look on her face when she watches him is absolutely priceless.”
Life as a Girl Dad
Parker was born in May 2022, on the couple’s fourth wedding anniversary—a truly special day for Drew and Linda. When asked how life has changed since welcoming a daughter, Drew had a pretty straightforward answer. “Girl dad life? So far, it’s not all that different,” he admitted. “We’ve got a toddler racing around the house, and honestly, he’s more work right now than a five-month-old. But it’s an amazing experience. Are we tired? Absolutely. Do we look it? Probably.”
Drew echoed similar thoughts during an interview with Collider in August, where he shared more details about raising two little ones with Linda. “At first, Parker was a bit cautious. He didn’t know what to expect from having a sister. It was almost as if he thought she might hurt him or take away his time,” Drew explained. “He was definitely feeling a bit jealous at first. ‘Who’s this lady coming into my life and stealing my time? I’m the most important one in this house.’ But now, he’s at a point where he just wants to spend every minute with her. He loves to cuddle up with her, kiss her hand or head, and even pet her. It’s truly adorable to see the two of them together.”
Family Ties: The Importance of Siblings
Drew also mentioned how much Parker and Piper enjoy spending time with their cousins. His twin brother, Jonathan Scott, plays a big role in their lives, especially since he’s the bonus dad to fiancée Zooey Deschanel’s kids, Charlie and Elsie, from her previous marriage to Jacob Pechenik. “I know what it was like growing up with JD and Jonathan. Having siblings is something I’ve always cherished,” Drew said. “And Jonathan and Zooey? They know exactly what it’s like to have siblings too. It’s a beautiful mix of love and chaos. Even Linda’s sisters have kids, and you see how much they care for each other, even when they fight. That’s just part of the sibling dynamic.”
“With Parker and Piper being two years apart, I really think that’s going to help them bond as they grow older. Hopefully, it’ll bring them closer together. Siblings can be the best of friends and the worst of enemies, but that’s all part of the journey. I’m excited to watch them grow and create their own special memories together,” Drew concluded.
