Candace Cameron Bure Opens Up About Moving Out Of L.A. For A Fresh Start

You know her as DJ Tanner from Fuller House, but now Candace Cameron Bure is sharing why she and her husband decided it was time to leave Los Angeles behind. In a candid conversation with Fox News Digital, Candace revealed the reasons behind their bold move and how it's changed their lives for the better.

Why Candace and Valeri Bure Said Goodbye to L.A.

It wasn’t an easy decision, but for Candace Cameron Bure and her husband, Valeri, staying in Los Angeles just didn’t feel right anymore. “We didn’t feel safe anymore,” Candace, now 48, explained during an interview on April 22. The couple had been experiencing challenges in the bustling city, and after much thought, they decided it was time to make a change. “That was the biggest reason that we moved,” she added, emphasizing the importance of prioritizing their well-being and security.

The Challenges of Living in L.A.

Candace, a beloved figure on the Hallmark Channel, opened up about the struggles her family faced while living in Los Angeles. With three children—Natasha, Lev, and Maksim—Candace shared how the city’s environment became overwhelming. “It’s amazing what people feel they can do,” she said, referring to fans who would approach her property and snap photos. While some interactions were harmless, others left her feeling uneasy. “When you’re just trying to be a person and live life, and you don’t know what’s around the corner, it gets unnerving,” she admitted.

Unlike many other stars in L.A., Candace’s home wasn’t hidden behind gates or guarded by security. This made her family more vulnerable to unexpected visitors. In March, she took to Instagram Stories to update her followers about the big move. “Many of you have asked, ‘Did you move?’ Yes,” she wrote. “Why? Mostly for security reasons. Also, family dynamics have changed. The kids don’t live in Los Angeles anymore. Mama will go where they go! I travel a lot. The seasons of life.”

    Life as Empty Nesters

Now that all their children have moved out, Candace and Valeri are embracing their new reality as empty nesters. “I don’t have any kids at home anymore,” Candace mentioned during an appearance on Good Morning America in January 2020. Reflecting on the passage of time, she remarked, “It went so fast. Everyone says that, but when you’re in the position you realize how quickly life moves.”

    Adjusting to New Beginnings

While Valeri misses having the kids around, he’s also enjoying the freedom that comes with being an empty nester. “He was like, ‘I finally have time to do everything I wanna do,’” Candace said with a laugh, highlighting how this new chapter has brought its own set of benefits. Despite the distance, Candace remains close to her children. “We cultivated those strong relationships as they were growing up,” she shared. “And now that they’re adults… now’s the time where you get to be friends with your kids. And it’s pretty awesome.”
